Offline mode and offline training

Close the client while keeping a server-side character present.

2 min read · Reviewed October 10, 2026

Type /offline to close the game while your character remains online. You can then close the launcher and turn off the computer. Nearby players see the away/AFK indicator. Log in normally to take control of the same character again.

What ordinary offline mode does

Automatic attacks, auto-hunting and gathering stop, and the character leaves its team. It remains in place and is not invulnerable. Normal combat risks and passive timers still apply; a character killed while offline is still dead when you return.

During planned maintenance, eligible offline characters are saved and restored after restart. Ordinary server crashes without a completed checkpoint cannot restore offline presence; unavailable or temporary maps may be skipped. It is not automatically restored after a later ordinary disconnect. Offline characters remain included in the online population while retained.

Offline stake training

If you use /offline (or Offline TG in the Escape menu) while alive and auto-attacking one of the four Twin City stakes, with a successful hit in the preceding five seconds, your character keeps training on that stake. The server continues that attack with normal resource costs and skill/proficiency awards, but no character XP. It stops on reconnect, death, target loss or attack interruption.

Limits and restrictions

The two modes share a maximum of three retained characters per IP. Finish trades, vending, poker and paired actions, and leave conflicting arena, tournament or cross-server activities before using them. If entry is rejected, read the reason instead of assuming the client should disconnect.

Player Market listings already remain available while you are offline. You do not need an offline character to keep an escrowed Market listing on sale.
